The Promotional Products Landscape Is Changing

Promotional products have changed.

Traditional pens, mugs, and trade show giveaways aren’t going anywhere, but today’s promotional landscape extends far beyond the classics. Retail-inspired products, recognizable brands, new decoration techniques, and rapidly changing consumer trends are creating more opportunities for companies to make their brands memorable.

As Caskey’s new Senior Promotions Manager, Lindsay Groft is helping clients navigate those opportunities while bringing a fresh perspective to the department. Her focus is on growing our promotional products capabilities, introducing new ideas to clients, and helping our sales team stay ahead of industry trends.

“I’m most excited to really dig into the promotional products market and use industry knowledge to better support our current and prospective clients,” Lindsay said.

For Lindsay, that means looking beyond the logo and beyond simply filling an order to help clients find promotional products that are worth their investment.

Talking Promotional Products with Lindsay Groft

From choosing products people actually want to keep to keeping pace with the latest trends, Lindsay has a clear vision for what makes promotional products work. We sat down with her to talk quality, creativity, intentional branding, and what she sees ahead for Caskey Promotions.

Lindsay’s Vision for Growing Caskey Promotions

Thousands of promotional products are available at any given time. That’s where Lindsay’s industry knowledge and expertise come in, helping clients navigate the options and identify the right solutions for their needs.

As Lindsay puts it, “The promotional product world really is an ocean.”

For every pair of sunglasses, for example, there may be 10 more options with different features, styles, decoration possibilities, and price points. Lindsay’s role is to help clients make sense of those options and find solutions that align with their audience, objectives, budget, and brand.

As Senior Promotions Manager, she plans to bring more proactive product recommendations, client outreach, and trend awareness to Caskey’s promotional products efforts.

For Lindsay, staying ahead of the market is part of the value Caskey can bring to its clients.

“It’s our job to keep an eye on the promotional market for our clients, finding what’s new, what’s trending, and what’s worth their investment.”

That proactive approach represents an opportunity to continue growing Caskey Promotions, not just by expanding what we can source, but by expanding the expertise and ideas we bring to clients.

Keeping Caskey Clients Ahead of What’s Next

Part of Lindsay’s vision is staying closely connected to what’s happening across the promotional products market, and that market is moving quickly.

Traditional, budget-friendly trade show giveaways still have an important place, but Lindsay sees demand shifting toward higher-quality, recognizable products recipients can use for years.

Social media has accelerated that shift. Products can gain significant consumer attention through platforms like TikTok and Instagram, creating an expectation that brands keep pace with what people are already seeing, collecting, and using.

Lindsay sees that shift as an opportunity to rethink what branded merchandise can be.

“Promotional products no longer have to feel like promotional products. Now, they can feel like something someone would have chosen for themselves.”

That creates an opportunity for Caskey clients to explore beyond the same products they may have relied on year after year.

Uniquely shaped drinkware, everyday sling bags and duffels, full-color wraps, elevated-ink decoration, and even unexpected products such as neon signs or travel humidifiers are just a few examples of how brands can create a different experience.

Her advice to clients is simple: “Promotional products should be fun and exciting. Don’t be afraid to experiment.”

But staying current doesn’t mean chasing every trend. It means continually exploring the market to find products that make sense for the brand, audience, and occasion.

That willingness to explore is important because, as Lindsay explains, “Great promotional campaigns evolve.”

For her, successful programs come from staying connected to industry trends and searching for fresh, relevant products rather than settling for the first item that meets the basic requirements.

Strategy Starts Before Selecting a Product

Growing Caskey Promotions isn’t only about offering more products. Lindsay also brings expertise to the decisions behind them.

Before beginning a product search, she considers two important factors: the client’s brand requirements and timeline.

Approved colors, logo requirements, and imprint methods can all influence which products make sense. So can an event date or another firm deadline.

Then there’s the audience.

For Lindsay, one factor rises above the rest: “Understanding your audience is everything.”

A practical, easy-to-grab product may be exactly what a company needs for hundreds of trade show attendees. Employee appreciation, new-hire gifts, and thank-yous for long-standing clients call for a more intentional approach.

For those audiences, Lindsay recommends considering products that combine quality with everyday usefulness, such as recognizable drinkware, durable journals, and useful tech accessories.

The goal is to find something that feels purposeful rather than disposable.

Putting Quality Behind the Caskey Name

Lindsay is also bringing a clear philosophy about what makes a promotional product worth recommending.

Her approach comes down to finding the right balance: “The key to choosing the right promotional product is finding an item that fits your budget without sacrificing quality.”

Choosing the lowest price point can be tempting, particularly when ordering large quantities. But a product that breaks quickly or doesn’t function as expected can ultimately communicate something about the company whose logo is printed on it.

For Lindsay, quality is part of the brand experience.

That’s also why she encourages clients to sample products whenever there’s uncertainty.

A product can look impressive online, but photos and specifications can only tell you so much. Holding and using it provides a much better understanding of what the recipient will actually experience.

Spending a little upfront to test a product can help ensure that a much larger investment ultimately represents the brand the way it should.

More Possibilities Through The YGS Group

Lindsay also sees Caskey’s connection to The YGS Group as an important opportunity for the future of the Promotions department.

She sees being part of The YGS Group as an advantage in expanding what Caskey can offer.

“As part of the YGS family, we have the unique ability to provide a more complete, all-in-one solution while continuing to expand the products we can bring to the table.”

That connection creates opportunities to think bigger about where promotional products fit within a client’s overall brand experience.

Rather than existing on their own, promotional products can support events, employee initiatives, client relationships, marketing campaigns, and other communications, all while connecting with the broader capabilities available across The YGS Group.

For Lindsay, growing the department means continuing to expand those possibilities while giving clients a knowledgeable partner who can help them navigate an increasingly complex promotional market.

Sometimes, Less Branding Creates More Exposure

Part of that expertise is also knowing when to let the product do some of the talking.

Lindsay challenges the assumption that successful promotional merchandise requires putting the largest possible logo on a product.

When it comes to putting a logo on those products, Lindsay takes a less-is-more approach.

“I am a firm believer in subtle, intentional branding.”

Especially when merchandise is intended for clients or prospects, Lindsay believes branding should complement the product rather than overwhelm it.

The more naturally the branding fits, the more likely someone is to incorporate the item into everyday life. And everyday use means continued exposure for the brand.

It’s another example of the thinking Lindsay wants to bring to Caskey Promotions: not simply asking what we can put a logo on, but considering what will make someone want to keep that logo around.

Welcome to the Team, Lindsay

As Lindsay steps into her role as Senior Promotions Manager, we’re excited to welcome her to Caskey and The YGS Group—and to see where she takes Caskey Promotions next.

Her goal is to stay curious, stay ahead of the market, and keep bringing clients products and ideas that are worth their investment.

Because the promotional products world is enormous. Our clients shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

With Lindsay leading the way, Caskey Promotions is ready to keep exploring what’s new, what’s next, and what’s worth putting your name on.
